Data Scientist
HeartBeat.bio AG (HBB) has built a highly scalable human organoid and AI-supported drug discovery platform for developing first-in-class drugs for heart failure faster, less costly and with a higher probability of success in clinical trials. Our core technology is based on the world's first self-organizing heart-chamber-in-a-dish models (Cardioids), which resemble the human physiology of the different compartments of the heart while allowing for the cost-efficient and large-scale in vitro analysis of crucial parameters associated with cardiac diseases. We believe our Cardioid Drug Discovery Platform and our animal-free, human-centric approach have the potential to revolutionize the current cardiac drug discovery paradigm.
We work in a dynamic and collaborative environment at the Vienna BioCenter (VBC) and are looking for highly motivated candidates who share our excitement for human (cardiac) organoids and making a difference in the lives of heart failure patients. Currently, we are seeking a Data Scientist/Bioinformatician with a focus on genomics data analysis. Since we are a start-up with an agile working environment, we expect the candidate to be flexible and potentially work with multiple teams with changing responsibilities and tasks.
Candidates should:
- Have completed a Master’s degree or PhD (preferred) in the life science fields
- Ability to design and build customized (transcript)-omic sequencing workflows from raw data processing through QC, analysis, and visualization
- Experience in programming/software development for genomic data analysis
- Capability to design and lead -omics experiments supporting diverse screening and disease modeling projects
- Experience with image analysis and high-throughput screening would be considered a plus
- Experience building and customizing automation tools/dashboard apps (e.g., Streamlit, Dash)
Excellent English is required since we are working in an international scientific environment. German language skills are a plus, but not mandatory.
The annual gross salary is € 57,000 or higher, depending on qualification and experience, for full-time employment (40h/week).
