HeartBeat.bio AG (HBB) is a pioneering biotech company leveraging a next-generation drug discovery platform to develop breakthrough medicines for heart failure patients. Heart failure is a rapidly growing global health crisis, affecting over 30 million people in major pharmaceutical markets, with limited treatment options. Our Cardioid Drug Discovery Platform is based on the worldwide first self-organizing heart-chamber-in-a-dish models (Cardioids), which resemble the human physiology of the different compartments of the heart while allowing for the cost-efficient and large-scale in vitro analysis of crucial parameters associated with cardiac diseases. Our animal-free, human-centric approach has the potential to revolutionize the current cardiac drug discovery paradigm.
We work in a dynamic and collaborative environment at the Vienna BioCenter (VBC) and are looking for highly motivated candidates who share our enthusiasm for human (cardiac) organoids and making a difference in cardiac drug discovery and the lives of patients suffering from heart failure. Currently, we are seeking a Scientist II/Senior Scientist with a strong interest in cardiac disease modeling and collaborative projects with external industry partners.
Candidates need to:
- Have completed a master’s degree & 3 years of lab experience or a PhD (or equivalent) in the life science fields with a track record in academic excellence.
- Have experience with pluripotent stem cell differentiation; experience with disease modeling approaches is a plus.
- Experience in the field of cardiac biology and disease is highly beneficial.
- Have experience with gene editing approaches such as CRISPR/Cas9.
- Have the willingness to work in the lab.
- Have excellent data analysis and communication skills.
- Excel at leading a project with external and internal stakeholders.
- Prior experience in leading a team would be beneficial.
- Enjoy working in a high-performance team.
Excellent English is required since we are working in an international scientific environment.
The annual gross salary is € 55,000 or higher, depending on qualification and experience, for full-time employment (40h/week).
